USA Hockey Inc., a membership based organization, was founded in 1936 and is headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo. It has a membership of nearly 600,000 players, coaches, officials and volunteers that span all 50 states and is the National Governing Body for the sport of ice hockey in the United States.
USA Hockey coaches are required to be certified through specific training programs and complete the corresponding program levels based on which age group is coached.
Responsible Coaching print and video material is included in the Level 1-5 USA Hockey mandated coaching certification programs. Liberty Mutual Responsible Sports sponsors the USA Hockey Coaching Education Program.
